This image displays an excellent use of both simplicity and color. The artist does a wonderful job of taking advantage of the medium- allowing the colors to blend and run into one another. The shading is done well, she layers the colors rather than switching to a darker shade, a mistake most artists would make. The piece shows a great deal of originality- it is not something one sees often on DA, however I have seen similar images before. (LaurenGibson executes it in a much cleaner mater than most other images I have seen, though) The dark outline gives a lovely impact over the bright colors displayed elsewhere. The line work is smooth and even, with a few minor mistakes here and there that merely add to the character of the artwork. My only suggestions to the artist would be to add a hint more shading to the underside of the ring (it will give it a more noticeable highlight, thus creating a more realistic effect, making it look rounder) and be careful with where you allow your water to flow- the side of her face has a slight pink tinge to it. (If the extra color is meant to be there, make it slightly more noticeable. I apologize if the darkness is simply your scanner)
